What is Sexual Harassment?

Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, unwelcome sexual advances maybe considered illegal if:

Submitting to sexual advances becomes the explicit or implicit condition of employment
The employee's response to sexual advances becomes the basis for employment decisions such as promotion, transfer, or termination
The advances create a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment that interferes with an individual's performance

Facts concerning sexual harassment:

Sexual harassment is illegal!
Sexual harassment reduces productivity.
Sexual harassment is costly (ex:legal costs, training, counseling, turnover, negative impact on the workplace, etc.)
Offenders can be sued on charges of sexual harassment.
